We do, but it’s subtle, it’s in the background, and mostly when we’re young. From 0-10 Just about every day I heard the phrase ‘America is the greatest country in the world’ from one source or another. And our President is frequently referred to as ‘The Leader of the Free World’.

It’s not as bad as you might think.  Though they really drill it home for those young years, so it never really leaves your head.  It really seems like a hold over from America’s last decent moment in WWII

Pretty much what Crate said. Some point mid-freshman year in High School, usually when you’re 14 or so, the ‘We’re the most wonderful country ever’ veneer starts to peel away and you see the real workings of the nation, what the actual goods and bads are and you can finally figure out how you feel about it.

But that initial ‘We Are Awesome, And You Should Be Grateful We’re Doing/ Have Done Stuff For You At Some Point’ mentality is always in the back of our heads, so diffused that it’s not even about nationality, that we can’t even trace it anymore, turning into a vague sense of entitlement that has no logical source.
